Nicole LaCour-Wordlaw is a devoted wife, mother, childbirth educator, certified birth doula, placenta encapsulator, birth center administrative director, and student midwife. Her journey into birthwork is rooted in deep love, compassion, and a desire to uplift families through one of life’s most transformative experiences.
A lifelong learner, Nicole earned her BFA in Dance from UCLA in 1998, and movement has remained an integral part of her life. After experiencing the profound beauty of her own home births in 2008 and 2010, she was inspired to dive deeper into the world of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum care. Recognizing the power of compassionate support during this sacred time, she began working administratively for her midwives’ group practice while pregnant with her first child in 2007. This experience sparked a deep desire to serve birthing families more intimately, leading her to complete her doula training in 2012.
As a birth doula, Nicole has had the honor of supporting families in hospitals, birth centers, and homes, offering wholehearted presence, knowledge, and encouragement. Her mission is simple yet profound: to listen with an open heart, provide evidence-based education, and empower families to make choices that align with their needs and values. She believes that every birth is unique and that every family deserves to feel heard, supported, and confident in their journey.
Nicole’s background in dance and movement beautifully complements her birthwork. In 2014, she became a Certified Dancing for Birth™ Instructor, incorporating movement and body awareness into pregnancy and labor support. Her passion for education expanded in 2019, when she became a childbirth educator, teaching monthly group classes to help parents feel informed and prepared.
Beyond hands-on birthwork, Nicole has played a vital role in the growth and management of multiple birth centers across Los Angeles since 2007. Her administrative expertise has helped create spaces where families feel safe, nurtured, and empowered.
Now, in this exciting new chapter as a student midwife, which began in late 2023, Nicole is deepening her ability to serve families with holistic, comprehensive, and compassionate midwifery care. As a third-generation Los Angeleno, she feels incredibly blessed to offer her heart, hands, and knowledge to expectant families, ensuring they step into parenthood with love, confidence, and unwavering support.
When she’s not immersed in birthwork, Nicole cherishes time with her husband of 20 years and their two amazing teenagers. She finds joy in nature, blending essential oils, traveling, music, and attending vibrant art events.
Birth is not just a moment—it’s a transformation. Nicole is honored to walk alongside families as they step into this new chapter with strength, knowledge, and love.
